SOCAR hopes to reduce harmful emissions from refineries
Azerbaijan, Baku, July 26 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /
The best way to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere from oil refineries in Azerbaijan is to construct an entirely new oil and gas complex, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) told Trend today.
The SOCAR source told Trend that repairing old factories is a costly procedure. Building a new energy complex would prove the more cost-efficient option, he stressed.
"The construction of a new complex meeting modern requirements and standards is the best option," the source said.
However, he added that SOCAR is currently looking for ways to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere from its refineries.
The country's oil products are produced at two refineries in Baku with a capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year.
