Azerbaijan, Baku, July 29 / Trend A. Badalova /

The U.S State Energy Information Administration (EIA) predicts an increase in long-term global demand for gas by 44 percent.

According to EIA, worldwide demand for gas will increase by 4.46 trillion cubic meters in 2035 compared to 3.08 trillion cubic meters in 2007.

According to EIA report for the International Energy Review 2010, world demand for gas in 2009 reduced by 1.1 percent. The use of gas in the industrial sector reduced by 6 percent due to reductions during a recession in demand for industrial goods.

As soon as the global economy is restored, EIA expects short-term growth in world demand for gas.

According to EIA, the greatest growth in gas production will be observed in the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development). In particular, the growth of gas production in the Middle East will hit 0.46 trillion cubic meters 2007-2035, in Africa - 0.2 trillion cubic meters.

World energy demand will increase by 590 quadrillion btu (British thermal units) in 2020 and 739 quadrillion btu in 2035 compared to 495 quadrillion in 2007.

About 280.7 quadrillion btu (14 percent) of the total energy demand in 2035 will fall to OECD countries, about 458 quadrillion btu (84 percent) - OECD non-members.

According to EIA, worldwide demand for energy in 2009 reduced by 2.2 percent.
