EnerMech concludes new contract with BP on new energy project in Azerbaijan

Mechanical services company EnerMech, based in Aberdeen signed a contract with BP Exploration worth £8.2 million (US $12 million) for crane operation, maintenance, and inspection, EnerMech's official website reports.

The three-year deal includes the provision of core personnel for offshore crane operations in Baku, lifting equipment, engineering and technical services, spare parts, repair and refurbishment, and training services.

The workscope covers 12 BP offshore pedestal cranes operating in the Chirag, Central Azeri, West Azeri, East Azeri, and deepwater Gunashli developments, as well as the Shah Deniz gas development project in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.

EnerMech's managing director Doug Duguid said the signed agreement is breakthrough for Aberdeen's company and is the first crane contract with an international operator.

"This contract is strategically important because it gives us an opportunity to provide our other areas of services, such as rental of equipment, hydraulics, flexible management and training in Azerbaijan, also it is a springboard for further expansion in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Georgia," he said.
