The volume of transportation of Kazakh oil in the direction of Aktau-Baku amounted to 849,000 tons in the first half of this year compared to 602,000 tons in January-June 2009, deputy chairman of the Transport and Communications Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communications Aibat Kangaliyev told Trend.
"During this period, growth in transportation in this area amounted to 41 percent," he said.
At present, oil is transported to the Caspian Sea in three directions: Aktau-Makhachkala (Russia), Aktau-Baku (Azerbaijan), Aktau-Neka (Iran).
He said that it is planned to transport about 11 million tons of oil through the Aktau port in 2011-2014. About 7.6 million tons will fall to the national shipping company.
