Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, August 5 /Trend, G.Hasanov/

In Ashgabat, the representatives of countries participating in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline project stressed "the importance of speedy implementation of the project and the need to intensify joint efforts", the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported.

Ashgabat hosted the next meeting of the technical working group on this great project.

The working group members noted that this project benefits both Turkmenistan - a gas supplier, as well as Pakistan and India, whose economies are in need of energy resources, and Afghanistan as a consumer and transit country.

"Laying the transnational gas pipeline will allow participating countries to resolve a number of important social and humanitarian issues, including those related to the creation of additional jobs, the formation of social infrastructure along the entire gas pipeline, and most importantly, will help maintain and consolidate political stability throughout the region," the newspaper reported.

The meeting covered a number of technical issues on implementation of earlier reached agreements aimed at enhancing collaboration.
