Turkey pays Iran $ 600 million fine

Turkey's State Oil Company Botas, has paid the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) a fine of about $600 million for import of natural gas at a rate smaller than was previously agreed between two companies, Mehr news agency said Sunday.

Turkey's State Oil Company Botas, has paid the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) a fine of about $600 million for import of natural gas at a rate smaller than was previously agreed between two companies, Mehr news agency said Sunday.

Under the contract, Turkey had to import from Iran 30 million cubic meters of gas per day. However, Botas could only import 25 million cubic meters per day.

15 years ago, Botas and NIGC signed a contract for 23 years. Under the contract, Turkey had to import from Iran 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
