The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to put into operation a gas compressor station on the platform "Gunashli-4" on the offshore field of the same name in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea in November 2010, a source in SOCAR  said today. Previously it was planned to commission the station in September.

The station will provide 400,000 cubic meters of low-pressure associated gas per day.

"It was envisaged that the station will launch its work in September, however, the amount of operations under this project is great," the source said.

He said at present final construction works and commissioning of the station are underway. The process can be completed by November 2010.

Guneshli belongs to the May 28 Oil and Gas Production Unit.

The same gas was previously emitted into the atmosphere due to a lack of infrastructure, which greatly harmed the environment. The cost of the infrastructure and the project implementation is estimated at $150 million. Emissions vary between 150-250 million cubic meters of gas per year.
