U.S. company studies SOCAR emissions

The U.S. company MI LLC has examined waste and waste storage at the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). MI LLC recently won a tender to reconstruct SOCAR's Waste Recycling Center and to open a waste management system in Baku.

According to SOCAR, the company is developing a project feasibility study and has already studied a range of normative acts, as well as the permissible level of gas emissions.

MI LLC discussed the project in Baku with SOCAR representatives, SOCAR Vice President on Ecology Soltan Aliyev and MI Vice President Sven Maikranz.

SOCAR and MI LLC signed a contract to prepare the feasibility study on May 20. Aliyev and Maikranz signed the contract.

The project is implemented within a grant agreement signed between SOCAR and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency worth $572,000. The agreement was signed on Aug. 13, 2009.
