Turkmen delegation studies in Seoul demand for Asian energy markets

Turkmenistan, which plays one of the key roles in the energy market in Central Asia, is interested in supplying its hydrocarbons to the Asian continent, an official Turkmen source said.

Turkmenistan, which plays one of the key roles in the energy market in Central Asia, is interested in supplying its hydrocarbons to the Asian continent, an official Turkmen source said.

To this purpose, Yagshygeldy Kakayev, director of the State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the President, attends the energy conference held in Seoul (South Korea) from 23 to 26 August.

The order on the participation of a senior official, who has now also been charged as deputy prime minister for fuel and energy, in the event, held at the level of heads of national oil companies of Asian states, was personally signed by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

At the last meeting, the Turkmen leader stressed the need "to accelerate work to diversify the energy routes to world markets."

Turkmenistan has recently accessed to the Chinese market through the trans-national gas pipeline launched in 2009, passing through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. According to experts, it is technically possible to connect this communication with the markets of South Korea and Japan. South Korea is also one of the world's largest buyers of liquefied natural gas, production of which in Turkmenistan is increasing year by year.

Recently the work was noticeably increased on the realization of another large-scale pipeline network project in the direction of India and Pakistan. At the same time, a serious problem for its implementation is a complicated situation in transit Afghanistan. In this regard, official Ashkhabad recently proposed to host talks on restoring peace in Afghanistan by under the auspices of the UN.
