The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), World Bank, as well as representatives of the operating company (OC) and joint ventures (JVs) discussed a "Plan to reduce SOCAR's associated gas", operating companies and JVs" Aug.30 in Baku, SOCAR said.
The document is being prepared under the Memorandum of Understanding between SOCAR and Organization of Partnership on Global Gas Flaring Reduction (GGFR) signed in August 2008.
The document includes the planning measures for reducing emissions of associated gas into the atmosphere, and reporting on emissions of associated gas on the oil fields operated by SOCAR, OC, and JVs. Also, reducing emissions of associated gas is envisaged on the basis of GGFR proposals, based on a specific approach.
At present, SOCAR conducts operations to reduce emission of associated gas into the atmosphere on offshore oil and gas fields "Guneshli" and "Oil Rocks".
