Georgia, Turkey to build 400-kilovolt power transmission line

Georgia and Turkey will sign an agreement on building a new 400-kilovolt transmission line connecting the two countries' power systems, Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri told journalists on Wednesday.

The signing ceremony of the agreement will take place during the visit to Turkey by a Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Nika Gilauri, Khetaguri said.

According to the minister, the new transmission line will be built in the Akhaltsikhe area.

Khetaguri said Georgia intends to increase power export in the coming years and is ready to contribute to its exports in transit from Azerbaijan.
