Ashgabat has today opened an international exhibition and conference "The main trends of energy industry development in Turkmenistan".

The organizers are the Turkmen Energy Ministry and Commerce and Industry Chamber. The event brings together about 50 companies from 17 countries, including the U.S, Russia, China, France, Switzerland, the UAE, Italy, Belgium, Germany, the UK and etc.

These enterprises are engaged in production and supply of equipment and development of technologies for the generation, transmission and distribution of energy.

"Due to the constant growth of power consumption through increasing domestic needs and exports, as well as modernization of industry, holding of an international exhibition and conference has acquired a special significance for the complex address of the problems associated with upgrading and reconstruction of electricity networks and equipment, effective use of resources," the organizers reported.

The conference will also touch upon cooperation in the effective and rational use of energy-saving technologies, renewable energy sources.

Turkmenistan is supplying power to Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan.

"The implementation of large-scale construction projects on transnational systems for gas and power transit contribute not only to economic, geopolitical and social progress, but is a reliable factor in promoting peace and stability and promote the welfare of nations," President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov in his address to the participants.
