Prices for gasoline and diesel fuel in Iran will rise more than other energy sources in the future, Fars news agency quotes the head of Iran's Transport and Fuel Department, Mohammadreza Ravanian as reporting.

This is due to the largest amount of subsidies allocated to transport in Iran.

The share of subsidies allocated by Iran for the transport sector accounts for 42 percent, 16 percent is allocated to industry, eight percent - to agriculture.

In Iran, the quota for preferential amount of gasoline is 60 liters per month for private cars, 25 liters for motorcycles, 500 liters for taxis with ordinary engines, 200 liters for taxis with hybrid (petrol and gas) engines, as well as 200 liters for private vehicles for the transportation of cargo and passengers

At present, the price of subsidized gasoline of the Regular brand is about $0.11 per liter, and the price of subsidized gasoline of the Super brand is approximately $0.18.
