Uzbekistan commissions potash fertilizers production plant

The Uzbek State-Joint Stock Company Uzhimprom put into operation the Dehkanabad Plant on Production of Potash Fertilizers, producing 200,000 tons of potash fertilizers annually, in Kashkadarya region, south of Uzbekistan, Uzhimprom told Trend.
Russia's Zapodnouralskiy Machinjstroitelniy Kontsern and China's CITIC Pacific Ltd constructed the plant worth $123,67 million.
The Uzbek Fund for Reconstruction and Development allocated $61.9 million, China's Eximbank - $41.7 million and Uzhimprom - its own funds to finance the project. Uzkimyosanoat will also direct its own funds to finance the construction.
The plant was built on the base of Tyubegata potassium salts deposit in Kashkadarya region bordering with Turkmenistan.
Total industrial reserves hit 400.2 million tons with potassium chloride to the amount of 36.8 percent. The most promising part of the deposit with reserves of 200 million tons is situated in Uzbekistan.
So far, potash fertilizers have not been produced in Uzbekistan. They were imported, mostly from Russia, to the amount of 50,000 tons annually. The new plant is expected to ensure the internal needs of the country for potash fertilizers and export them partially to Central Asia and China.
