Data issued by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries on Wednesday showed the group's oil price edged above the 80-dollar mark on the previous day, for the first time since early May, DPA reported.
The cartel's basket price reached 80.14 dollars per barrel (159 litres) on Tuesday, adding 0.19 dollars from the day before.
The current rise has been supported by speculative investors, according to analysts at Commerzbank in Frankfurt.
