The drilling operations are conducted in shallow waters of the Caspian Sea and the North Goturdepe in the western part of the country with the expectation for the prospects, Turkmenneft state concern said.

"The reasons, appeared after the well No 29, drilled in the shallow waters of the Caspian Sea, gave oil," the information said.

Now the staff of Turkmenneft industrial enterprises are expanding and deepening the search for oil and gas in this region. But the drillers of Goturdepe drilling operations department have already drilled two new wells. One of them No 147 is operational, another, No 37, is an exploration well. The first will be horizontal. Moreover, its horizontal 'tail' must stretch onshore.

The fact that the production capacity of this branch of Turkmen economy is equipped with the most advanced and highly efficient equipment and technologies has special attention. "This allows oil industry workers to increase the rate of exploration to identify new deposits of oil, gas condensate and natural gas, to determine their volumes and possibilities of commercial production.

Active drilling operations are being conducted in Altyguyy field, located near Korpedje field. At present, the boundaries and volumes of raw materials of the prospective field are being determined.

The drillers of Korpedje drilling operations department are mounting a modern drilling rig made in China to drill the operational well No 51 with a projected depth of 3,900 meters.

The distinctive feature of this well is that it will be drilled by a horizontal method. The latest techniques and technologies of foreign companies will be used.

Turkmen drillers have explored new prospective areas in Akeser, Kemer, and Miesser as a result of modern geological and geophysical research this year.

The first exploration wells were drilled. "An attempt was made to reach productive layers in 1980s. But no results were achieved because the level of technical capability that time was insufficient.

There are big hopes for the exploration well No 1 in the new area of Kemer, located between Akpatlavuk and Keimir fields which are under exploitation. The specialists of Korpedje department drill a well in the structure to find oil and gas in Miocene sediments.

More than 2,000 meters of the borehole with a projected depth of 4,300 meters have been drilled. Turkmenneft drillers and geologists intend to start the search-exploratory drilling in new areas of Shayyrdy, Garadashly and Simler by late 2010.
