Electricity generated by Iran increased by 9 percent up to 143.790 gigawatts per hour in the first half of the year (a year in Iran starts on March 21) compared to the same period of last year, Ilna agency reported.
Over 137.200 gigawatts / hour were generated by thermal power plants, 6.769 gigawatt / hour - hydroelectric power stations.
Over 133.593 gigawatt/h electricity was generated over the same period of last year.
Currently, the capacity of Iranian hydroelectric power stations is about 7.700 megawatts. The country has 44 hydroelectric power stations, which include 109 energy units.
