Sumgait power station generates over 1 billion kWh

In January-September, the Sumgait Power Station generated about 1.2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, which is more by 11.4 million kilowatt hours than the figure forecasted previously, Azerenergy JC reported said. The station was commissioned in November 2009.

According to the report, there was carried out work to improve the level of the energy transmission and distribution systems during this period.

The Sumgayit Power Station's capacity is 525 megawatts.  The station consists of two gas turbines with a capacity of 164 megawatts each, and one steam turbine with a capacity of 189 MW.  A 220-kilovolt lines 'Promuzel' and 'Yashma' lengths 6.5 kilometers each were laid in order to transfer electricity produced at the plant to the grid. The Sumgait power station provides energy security of Sumgait and Absheron peninsula and is of great importance to the smooth operation of energy transmission and distribution systems.
