Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 14 /Trend, E.Ismayilov/

In January-September, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) sold more than 296,500 tons of Azerbaijani oil products in the Georgian market, which is 4 percent more than the same period of the last year, said a source in SOCAR Energy Georgia, which is a subsidiary of SOCAR in Georgia.

The source said that in January-September, SOCAR has sold about 121,800 tons of gasoline, about 146,400 tons of diesel fuel, more than 15,700 tons of aviation fuel, 765 tons of fuel oil, about 11,400 tons of bitumen and 472 tons of lubricants.

The source mentioned earlier that SOCAR plans to sell 412,000 tons of oil products in Georgian market in 2010 compared to more than 406,000 tons in 2009. Despite the slight delay on the figures of last year, during the year it is planned to achieve the volumes planned, and even exceed them.

Oil products in Azerbaijan are made on the basis of two Baku refineries with a total capacity of 20 million tons per year. Both refineries are part of the SOCAR, which annually processes more than six to seven million tons of oil from onshore and offshore at its own expense.

Last year, the Baku refineries processed 6.03 million tons of oil compared to 7.35 million tons in 2008. This year, SOCAR plans to refine 6.15 million tons of oil at its own two Baku refineries.
