SOCAR to open 15 filling stations by late 2010

SOCAR intends to bring the number of filling stations up to 64 units in Georgia by late 2010.

"The 50-th filling station, operating under SOCAR brand, was commissioned yesterday. Their number will increase up to 64 stations by late 2010," a source in SOCAR Energy Georgia, which is an affiliate of SOCAR in Georgia, said.

He said that SOCAR's nine filling stations will be opened in Georgia by December 1, and five filling stations by late December.

SOCAR Energy Georgia company head Mahir Mammadov said that one of the company's goals is to hold a leading position in retail sales. The company plans to achieve this goal within a few days and increase the number of filling stations in Georgia up to 60-70 units.

SOCAR Georgia was cofounded by: SOCAR (51 percent), Petro-Trans FZCO (24.5 percent) and Ivan Chkhartishvili (24.5 percent).
