SOCAR increases oil production

In January-September, SOCAR's oil and gas departments extracted about 40.34 million barrels of oil (about 5.49 million tons) in offshore and onshore fields of the country compared to about 40.16 million barrels (5.46 million tons) in January- September 2009, SOCAR said.

About 9.7 million barrels fall to joint projects of SOCAR with foreign companies. About 1.6 million barrels fall to operating companies. About 7.2 million barrels fall to "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli', over 852,000 barrels fall to gas condensate from Shah Deniz field.

In January-August SOCAR received about 5.75 billion cubic meters, compared to 5.56 billion cubic meters during the same period of last year. SOCAR's oil and gas departments extracted 5.32 billion cubic meters of gas. Joint ventures and operating companies which produce natural gas onshore delivered SOCAR 51.7 million cubic meters of gas in January- September.

Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) extracted 2.53 billion cubic meters of associated gas in the field "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" in January-March for SOCAR compared to about 3 billion cubic meters during the same period of last year.

There are 59 oil and gas fields, of which 18 offshore, the rest onshore in Azerbaijan.
