Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Oct. 19 / Trend H.Hasanov /

Turkmenistan will soon present a more comprehensive data on natural gas resources, Deputy Prime Minister Baymurad Khodzhamuhammedov said at the Ashgabat International Investment Forum.

The report will include data on both proven and forecasted reserves. The specialists of the Turkmen State Committee on Reserves and Resources and the State Concern "Turkmengeologia" are actively working ion this, an official Turkmen source reported.

Turkmengeologiya earlier confirmed the reserves of the South Yoloten Osman Field in the Mary region, which are estimated at 18 trillion cubic feet of gas. The figure is 4 trillion cubic meters more than the estimates of Gaffney, Cline and Associates. According to the Gaffney, the field's gas reserves range from 4 to 14 trillion cubic meters.

Turkmenistan is one of the key players in the energy market in the Caspian region, which has been actively expanding into new markets. The country began gas pumping via the Turkmenistan-China pipeline in 2009 and built an additional branch to neighboring Iran. There are also agreements to accelerate the implementation of the project on pipeline to Pakistan and India via Afghanistan.

Europe also shows interest in the Turkmen energy carriers, with which connects the Nabucco project. Russia's Gazprom also do not want to lose its long-standing position on the market, as Presidents of Turkmenistan and Russia, Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov and Dmitriy Medvedev will hold working talks on Oct.21-22 in Turkmenistan.
