The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped over 1.51 million tons of oil cargo in January- September, which is 19 percent lower than the same period of 2009, Baku International Sea Trade Port said.

A source told Trend that the port transshipped 1.51million tons of oil cargo in January-September compared to 1.86 million tons in January-September of 2009," the source said.

As a source said earlier, the rate of decline is due to overall decline in the transit of the Kazakh and Turkmen oil and from middle of last year redirection of the part of the oil cargo from Central Asia to the oil terminal at Sangachal, where Cross Caspian transhipments are carried out.

In 2009, the Baku Port transhipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo, which is 10 percent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009 the port transhipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
