Ashgabat, Tehran make relations in transport, energy and banking more activate

Ashgabat hosted the Turkmen and Iranian foreign ministries’ consultations, during which Iran was represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister Amir Mansour Borqei, an official Turkmen source said today.

Ashgabat hosted the Turkmen and Iranian foreign ministries' consultations, during which Iran was represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister Amir Mansour Borqei, an official Turkmen source said today.

According to him, the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. The discussions were held on implementation of joint projects in transport and energy according to previously reached intergovernmental agreements.

Also the Iranian delegation's members expressed interest in increasing cooperation between countries in banking and commerce.

Turkmenistan and Iran are constructing the transnational railway corridor Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan, which will significantly shorten the route from Central Asia to the Persian Gulf states.

In addition, the second gas pipeline from Turkmenistan - from Dovletabad in the direction to Iran was commissioned in early 2010, the first pipeline, the first pipeline opened in the mid-1990s, runs from the western field Korpeje.
