In Iran, fuel oil and diesel fuel supplies, required in winter to generate electricity, comprise 86 percent in Iran, Abdulrasul Pishaheng, the Iranian Energy Ministry quotes the deputy head on coordination and production of state-owned Tavanir company as saying.
According to Pishaheng, at present three types of fuel - gas, diesel and fuel oil are used in Iranian power plants to generate electricity.
Gas consumption by Iran's power plants in the summer season is 210 million cubic meters per day, and in winter period - 150 million cubic meters.
"We hope that the interaction of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company' and National Gas Company will fully provide the Iranian power plants with necessary amount of fuel during the cold period of the year," Pishaheng said.
According to him, providing the Iranian power plants with necessary amount of fuel is a very important process, as this year 94 percent of electricity was generated by thermal power plants.
