The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will soon commission four gas stations under its own brand, a source at SOCAR Energy Georgia (a SOCAR subsidiary in Georgia) said. The new stations will be commissioned in the next 10-14 days.

The source said the stations will open in the Samtredia and Karelia regions, as well as in Kharagauli and Batumi.

The company plans to increase the number of its gas stations in Georgia to 64 units by late 2010, the source said.

SOCAR Energy Georgia head Mahir Mammadov said earlier that one of the company's goals is to hold a leading position in retail sales in the country.

SOCAR Georgia was cofounded by: SOCAR (51 percent), Petro-Trans FZCO (24.5 percent) and Ivan Chkhartishvili (24.5 percent).
