BTC transports about 250,000 tons of Turkmen oil every month
Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov.13 / Trend, E.Ismayilov /
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) transports about 200,000-250,000 tons of the Turkmen oil every month, Rovnag Abdullayev, the head of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), said today.
He said at present, the oil pipeline transports oil only from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. Transportation of the Kazakh oil from the Tengiz field is carried out only by rail, after which it is delivered to SOCAR's terminal in Kulevi and KazMunaiGas Company's terminal in Batumi.
It is planned to resume transportation of Tengiz oil via the BTC by early 2011, a source on the oil and gas market said.
The tariffs offered by the BTC Oil Pipeline Consortium to Tengizchevroil are 15-20 percent lower than for other manufacturers, SOCAR senior official said earlier.
Last year, tariffs for pumping Tengiz oil via BTC hit $4.05.
Tengizchevroil began transporting oil through the pipeline in 2008. However, shipments were later suspended after tariff disputes between the company and BTC shareholders in early 2010.
BTC Co. shareholders include: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent ); Itochu (3.40 percent ); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent); and Amerada Hess (2.36 percent).
