Compressed natural gas consumption increases in Iran

Since the beginning of the year (the year in Iran starts on March 21), the average daily consumption of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Iran amounted to 366 million cubic meters, about 8 percent increase compared to the same period of the last year, said deputy oil minister of Iran Javad Oji, the Irib news agency reported.

"This year, 24 cities and 660 villages were provided with natural gas," said Oji.

According to data provided by BP, as of Jan. 1, 2010 the proven oil reserves in Iran totaled 137.6 billion barrels and natural gas reserves - 29.61 trillion cubic meters.
