The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic has expressed an interest in buying the North-South gas pipeline from Russia to Armenia.
The Georgian government's position on the issue has not been formed yet, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a traditional briefing today.
"SOCAR implements great and successful projects in Georgia," she said. "The decision regarding the pipeline can be taken based on the interests of both countries."
SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev officially expressed an interest in buying the Georgian section of the pipeline.
He said the pipeline can be used to accelerate the implementation of the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector (AGRI), which involves the supply of Azerbaijani liquefied gas through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania.
