The Iranian Energy Ministry's revenue will reach up to 2, 7 cents per 1 kWh by introducing new electricity tariffs. The electricity prices will not be changed next year either, Iranian energy minister Majid Namjoo was quoted by Mehr as saying.

Namjoo said that the Iranian Energy Ministry's revenue averaged to $50million weekly before the new electricity tariffs were introduced.

Iran has fixed new electricity, water and gas prices within the governmental plan of reducing the subsidies.

The electricity tariffs were raised from 1.6 cents up to 4.5 cents per 1 kWh, water tariffs from 8 cents up to 28 cents per 1 cubic meter, gas tariffs from 1, 3 cents up to 7.0 cents per cubic meter from December 19.

It was reported that the petrol prices were raised four times due to reducing the governmental subsidies for the population.

According to a statement released by the Iranian Energy Ministry, the country has exported 4,630 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity to its neighboring countries during the period. The report didn't specify the exact date this period covered.

Iran also increased its electricity imports from 1,632 GWh to 2,373 GWh during this period. The figure shows a 45.34 percent increase in Iran's electricity imports.

Iran's electricity network has been integrated into the power grids of neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Turkmenistan.

Iran exported more than 5.5 billion KWh of electricity to neighboring countries during the last Iranian year, IRNA reported.

Iran is the 19th largest producer and 20th largest consumer of electricity in the world.

Earlier this year, Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou said that Russia, India, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Syria and Oman are the new countries having demand for Iran's electricity.

The minister said that Iran has the capability of turning into a regional electricity exporter.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has announced about launching his economic reform plan aimed at overhauling the country's economy by shelving energy and food subsidies.

President Ahmadinejad said that all subsidies would gradually be removed during a five-year period.

Before the plan was officially announced, every family member received a sum worth 810,000 rials ($80) for two months.
