In 2011, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the medium-term contract with Gazprom intends to export 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas to Russia, SOCAR first vice-president Khoshbakht Yusifzade said in an interview with the "Respublika" newspaper.

According to him, it will be possible due to the reconstruction work, carried out at a gas compressor station in Siyazan. The work was conducted to ensure the required amount in the future and pressure of gas exported to Russia.

In 2010, SOCAR exported 799.75 million cubic meters of gas to Russia. In December last year about 40.32 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas was transported to Russia compared about 60.8 million in November.

The medium-term contract on purchase-sale of Azerbaijani gas to Russia (with the possibility of extension) was signed between SOCAR and Gazprom in Baku Oct. 14. According to the agreement, Gazprom will get 2 billion cubic meters in 2011 and more than 2 billion cubic meters in 2012.
