The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) carries out testing of equipment at the gas compressor stations on the Gunashli-4 Platform under the process of recovery of associated gas and transporting them to the land, a source in SOCAR said on Tuesday.

"The work at the facility has not yet been completed. The work is underway to test individual plants and equipment," the source said.

According to him, commissioning of a new compressor station is planned for March this year. The delay in this project stems from the fact that the object is located on the sea, which requires a careful approach to the project at all stages.

The new station is installed to provide for collection of associated gas of low pressure in the volume of 400,000 cubic meters per day emitted into the atmosphere at the field.

Earlier, because of the absence of infrastructure, this gas was vented into the atmosphere, which brought large damage to the environment. The cost of creation of the necessary infrastructure and realization of this project is estimated at $150 million. The volume of venting is nearly 200 million cubic meters of gas per year.
