Bulgarian PM, OMV President discuss construction of Nabucco pipeline

Bulgarian Prime minister Boyko Borissov and OMV President Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer discussed the construction of Nabucco gas pipeline, designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the EU countries, Radio Bulgaria reported.

Bulgarian Prime minister Boyko Borissov and OMV President Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer discussed the construction of Nabucco gas pipeline, designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the EU countries, Radio Bulgaria reported.

During the meeting they both expressed satisfaction withAzerbaijan and Turkmenistan, whichguarantee the gas supply for the project.This is another step towards its realization.

Nabucco is worth 7.9 billion euro, with its construction scheduled to start in 2012 and the first supplies to be commissioned in 2015. The project's participants include the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE.

He also informed that the European Investment Bank was poised to give 1.2 billion euro as a guarantee for the project. This means that the government has provided 100percent funding, as far as Bulgaria's participation in Nabucco concerns.
