Iran, Turkmenistan launched joint gas field development project

Iran-Turkmenistan started a joint gas field development project with Turkmenistan in Gonbadli joint gas field, Mehr News Agency reported quoting Managing Director of Shahid Hashemi Nejad (Khangiran) gas refinery Masoud Hassani as saying.

"Iran launched plan to increase sweet gas production from joint Gonbadli gas field reservoir in Northeastern Iran," he said.

The reservoir was out of operation due to low pressure, however the joint gas field development project provides fuel for Shahid Hashemi Nejad (Khangiran) gas refinery.

Shahid Hashemi Nejad (Khangiran) gas refinery plans to export sulfur products to Turkmenistan as well.

The Gonbadli joint gas field has the production capacity of 700,000 cubic meter sweet gas per day.

The joint gas field located in 25 kilometer from southwest of Sarakhs border near Turkmenistan. It currently has 3 gas wells producing 1.1 million cubic meter natural gas and 9 new drilled gas wells.
