Since the season began, 710.44 million cubic meters of gas were pumped into Azerbaijan's gas storage facilities, a source in SOCAR said.
At present, there are two underground gas storage facilities; one in Karadag and another in Kalmaz.

According to the source, approximately 401.5 million cubic meters of the total volume of gas was pumped into Garadagh, while about 309 million cubic meters were pumped into the Kalmaz underground gas storage facility.

According to the source, at present the gas amount in underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan is over 1.85 billion cubic meters. Over 1.14 billion cubic meters remained from last year.

"At present, about nine million cubic meters of gas is pumped into gas storage facilities, which is due to the limiting gas supply from the Shah Deniz field. Before, this volume of pumping hit 12.14 million cubic meters per day," the source said.

He said that this year, the volume of gas pumped into storage facilities is expected to reach the same level as last year. The source did not rule out that the volume may increase.
The gas pumping season is expected to be completed in September-October.

Last season, about 1.92 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped out from the gas storage facilities.

The volume of gas reserves in Azerbaijan's underground gas storage facilities reached 3.05 billion cubic meters after the 2010-2011 pumping season.
