Turkey ups gas imports and consumption

The Turkish state pipeline company Botas imported over 16.8 billion cubic meters of gas into Turkey from various sources in January-May compared to about13 billion during the same period of 2010, a statement posted on the official website of Botas said.

The Turkish state pipeline company Botas imported over 16.8 billion cubic meters of gas into Turkey from various sources in January-May compared to about 13 billion during the same period of 2010, a statement posted on the official website of Botas said.
Turkey also imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is supplied via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline.
Botas imported about 32.5 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey in 2010 compared to about 33.6 million cubic meters in 2009. Turkey imported about 37.8 million cubic meters in 2008.
Some 313 million cubic meters of gas fall to Botas's export operations in January-May compared to 281 million cubic meters during the same period of 2010. Roughly 660 million cubic meters of gas fall to export operations last year compared to 721 million cubic meters of gas in 2009. The country exported 443 million cubic meters in 2008. This figure was 31 million cubic meters of gas in 2007.
Some 17.1 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in January-May on the Turkish domestic market compared to over 13.4 billion during the same period of 2010.
Roughly 31.46 billion cubic meters of gas last year compared to more than 32 billion cubic meters of gas in 2009. More than 36 billion cubic meters were sold on the Turkish domestic market in 2008. This figure amounted to 35.1 billion cubic meters in 2007.
