Iran to start drilling in new Phase of South Pars

Iran is to start the first stage of drilling in Phases 22 to 24 of the South Pars joint field, Fars News Agency reported quoting project manager of Phases 22 - 24 of Iran's South Pars Farhad Izadjou as saying.

"Phases 22-24 are new projects in the South Pars development plan, which starts early by drilling in Iran's deep waters during the next two weeks", he said.

The Pars Oil and Gas Company will transfer the eleventh drilling rig to South Pars, aiming to extract gas from joint field reserves, he added.

So far 34 percent of onshore refinery construction and 19 percent of platform installments of these Phases were completed. The improvement of pipeline construction was 22 percent, with 14 percent of the drilling completed.

The Iranian South Pars Oil and Gas Field is one of the largest in the world. The field anticipates up to $130 billion in revenues per year.

The South Pars oil and gas field covers an area of 3,700 square kilometers. It is located 3,000 meters below the seabed.
