Iran to launch three petrochemical parks

Iran will commission three new petrochemical parks and two petrochemical hubs in Mahshahar and Assalouyeh regions, Mehr News Agency quoted Deputy Oil Minister Abdolhossein Bayat as saying.

"These petrochemical parks will be constructed to increase products in Mahshar and Assalouyeh regions," he said without mentioning the name of investor.

He stressed that the National Iranian Oil Company will call for to attract domestic and foreign investor to launch petrochemical parks.

The construction studies of petrochemical parks in Assalouyeh and Mahshahr ports have been completed, he added.

Petrochemical parks in Assalouyeh aim to produce 480,000 tons of petrochemical products annually, head of Jam Petrochemical Complex Hassanali Pakravan said.

First, Iran is to launch the Petrochemical Park in cooperation with the French company by the end of current solar year (started on March 20, 2011) and commission two other parks with the help of two Italian companies.

At present, Iran's production capacity of petrochemical product is 54.4 million tons while more than 17 million tons were produced for five last months.

About 46 million tons of petrochemical products will be produced in Iran by the end of current year. About 19 million tons will be exported to foreign countries.
