Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 21 / Trend , E.Ismayilov /

Azerbaijan is ready to begin shipping natural gas in the amount of 2 billion cubic meters through Turkey to Europe in 2013, the Head of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists today. He said SOCAR and the Turkish state pipeline company Botas agreed on the issue.

The arrangement between SOCAR and Botas is also reflected in the memorandum, earlier signed between the Azerbaijani and Turkish sides, Abdullayev said.

"It will be possible to talk about transporting small gas volumes via the Turkish gas infrastructure, following the signing of a transit agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey," Abdullayev said.

Gas produced by SOCAR and gas from the Shah Deniz field can be supplied under this agreement.

Abdullayev said that SOCAR signed a memorandum of understanding to supply additional volumes of gas to Greece, Bulgaria, and Syria.

The matter is particularly reorientation in an agreement between Botas and DEPA Companies to export Azerbaijani gas, stipulating direct gas supplies to Greece by SOCAR.
