Iran 's private sector plans to construct 14 offshore drilling rigs, SHANA reported quoting Deputy Oil Minister Mohsen Khojaste Mehr as saying.
"A total of $2.2 billion has been invested in construction of 14 offshore drilling rigs, which will be implemented by private sectors," he said.
The Oil Ministry will support private sector by providing financial aid while Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry will observe the construction of drilling rigs.
Previously, the National Iranian Drilling Company expressed readiness to deliver one drilling rig in every 45 days to drilling operations.
Iran currently increase domestic production of spare parts of drilling rigs to 50 percent and it is expected to increase to 70 percent if the government supports the project.
