President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and Hungarian President Pal Schmitt stressed the importance of ensuring energy security in their joint declaration signed following the Hungarian leader's visit to Ashgabat on Nov.8-10, 2011.
"Touching upon issues of energy resources supply to the world markets, the presidents stood for creating the multiversion pipeline infrastructures that will be directed at ensuring energy security in the regional and global scale," text of the document says.
Turkmenistan is one of the key suppliers of natural gas in the Caspian region. Hungary limited to fuel supplies from Russia is interested in diversifying energy supplies.
The presidents stressed that the economic and trade cooperation is one of the important directions of partnership as a whole.
The sides stressed intention to encourage the strengthening of cooperation between the organizations and companies of both countries in the transport, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, telecommunications, agriculture, rational use of natural resources and environmental protection.
During the visit, the presidents exchanged views on international issues of mutual interest.
The sides stressed the UN's special role in addressing global issues of international security and sustainable development, crime and conflict prevention.
"The two leaders expressed their support for the world community's efforts to combat terrorism, transnational crime and illicit trafficking in drug and psychotropic substances, and reaffirmed their readiness to develop cooperation in the fight against these challenges, both bilaterally and within international organizations and conferences," the document says.
Hungarian President invited to Berdimuhammadov to pay an official visit to Hungary. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. Dates of the visit will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
