BTC transports about 28 mln tons of oil

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported about 28 million tons of oil in January-October 2011 compared to about 31.2 million at the same period of 2010, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan said on Thursday.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported about 28 million tons of oil in January-October 2011 compared to about 31.2 million at the same period of 2010, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan said on Thursday.

As of Nov.1, the volumes of oil transported via BTC hit about 171.5 million tons.

According to the report, about 2.63 million tons of oil was transported via BTC in October compared to over 3.2 million tons in October 2010.

About 27.6 million tons were delivered from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world markets in January-October compared to over 31.1 million tons in January-October 2010. As of Nov.1, 2011, about 170 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was delivered from Ceyhan to the world markets.

According to the report, over 2.8 million tons of Azerbaijani oil were shipped from Ceyhan to the world market in October (over 2.21 million tons fall to SOCAR) compared to over 3.2 million tons in October 2010.

The BТС's total length is 1.768 kilometers including a 443-kilometer section running via Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section traversing Georgia and a 1.076-kilometer section passing through Turkey. The pipeline's construction began in April 2003. First oil was marked May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders include: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and Amerada Hess (2.36 percent).
