Kazakhstan's withdrawal from Central Asia's single power grid may lead to restrictions of energy consumption in northern Kyrgyzstan.

"Kazakhstan's withdrawal from the single power grid can lead to restrictions of energy consumption in northern Kyrgyzstan, General Director of JSC National Power Grid of Kyrgyzstan (NESK) Medetbek Aitkulov said at a board meeting of the Kyrgyz Energy Ministry on Friday.

He said the media has recently reported that Kazakhstan intends to withdraw from the single power grid of Central Asia, KirTAG reported.

"Its withdrawal would reduce the reliability of power supply, especially in the winter," he explained. "Currently we are negotiating with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and ask our neighbours not to withdraw from the single power grid."
