Turkmenistan negotiates with foreign contractors on East-West gas pipeline

Turkmenistan is in talks with foreign companies to do contract work within the East-West gas pipeline project in country, Turkmengaz Chairman Amanali Hanaliyev said at the oil and gas conference in Ashgabat today.


"The negotiations on the East-West project are underway with a number of international companies ," he said.


He added that the country is creating a gas-transport line.

Turkmen sources recently reported that the East-West line must be commissioned by mid-2015.

The project was started at the Shatlyk gas compression station on May 31, 2010.

Turkmengaz and Turkmenneftegazstroy were instructed to lay the pipeline with a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters per year.


The country's largest deposits with huge proven reserves of natural gas are situated in th eMary region, including Dovletabad, Malay, Yashlar and South Yoloten-Osman.
