Several projects of Azerbaijani gas export to Jordan are currently under consideration; nevertheless, the most preferable remaining option is a Pan-Arabian gas pipeline, Mahmud Al-Ays, the Spokesman for the Jordan Energy Ministry, told Trend on Thursday.

"Jordan is eager to buy gas from Azerbaijan, and the most profitable route is the Pan-Arabian gas pipeline," Al-Ays noted.

The spokesman said Jordan also explores the opportunity of buying liquid gas from Azerbaijan by marine way leading through the port of Akaba; however, this project is not too much economically expedient.

Al-Ays continued to say that all works on the project of Azerbaijani gas supply to Jordan through the Pan-Arabian gas pipeline have almost been completed, particularly, the pipeline's extent has already reached the territory of Turkey.

"The gas pipeline that delivers Azerbaijani gas to Turkey may be linked to the Pan-Arabian gas pipeline at a site in Syria," he said.

The spokesman noted that another important factor pertaining to the implementation of this project is the internal situation in Syria that may disturb it.

"If the situation in Syria is not stabilized by the completion date of the project it may become a barrier for gas export on the pipeline," Al-Ays reported.

Al-Ays told Trend earlier that Jordan, in the event of conclusion of accord, plans to buy around 4.2 million cubic meters (150 million cubic feet) per day or more than 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Azerbaijan.
