Turkey ups gas import in Jan.-Oct.

In January-October, the Turkish state pipeline company Botas imported about 31.26 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources compared to about 25.84 billion cubic meters in January-October 2010, Botas reported.

Turkey also imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is supplied via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline.

Botas imported about 32.5 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey in 2010 compared to about 33.6 million cubic meters in 2009. Turkey imported about 37.8 million cubic meters in 2008.

About 590 million cubic meters of gas fall to Botas's export operations in January- October compared to 569 million cubic meters during the same period of 2010. Roughly 660 million cubic meters of gas fall to export operations last year compared to 721 million cubic meters of gas in 2009. The country exported 443 million cubic meters in 2008. This figure was 31 million cubic meters of gas in 2007.

About 30.6 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in January-October on the Turkish domestic market compared to 25.3 billion during the same period of 2010.

Roughly 31.46 billion cubic meters of gas last year compared to more than 32 billion cubic meters of gas in 2009. More than 36 billion cubic meters were sold on the Turkish domestic market in 2008 compared to 35.1 billion cubic meters in 2007.
