Turkey is preparing several sanctions against the Syrian authorities, but will not stop providing the country with electric power, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz told media, Anadolu agency reported today.

"Turkey will not stop providing Syria with electric power because the population of the country uses it," the minister said.

Previously, Taner Yildiz said that if Syria does not stop the bloodshed, Turkey will cease energy supplies to the country. He went on to say that Turkey has temporarily postponed plans to jointly develop oil fields with Syria.

Anti-government riots in Syria began in Deraa on March 25 and have continued for the past nine months.
