New Kazakh State Plan on energy efficiency to save $1.36b a year

Kazakh Government session adopted a Complex Plan on energy efficiency for 2012-2015 on Tuesday.

Implementation of this plan will allow the country to save 200 billion tenge ($1.36 billion) a year, Kazakh prime minister's press-service reported.

"The Complex Plan will allow to reduce GDP's energy intensity by 10 percent and to save 16 billion kWh of electricity, 11 million Gcal of heat and 7 million tons of coal or 200 billion tenge in money equivalent," the report said.

The Complex Plan will provide for energy security and develop industry with high performance.

Moreover, the project envisages developing and introducing new technologies to improve energy efficiency, training for new personnel and the science-industry interaction for upgrading equipment and creating lean manufacturing.

A total of 3.536 billion tenge ($23.98 million) is required to implement this Plan.
