Turkey reduces electricity imports

By late 2011, Turkey plans to reduce electricity imports to 81.6 billion kilowatt-hours compared to 87 billion kilowatt-hours in 2010, the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Ministry said in its report on activity on Wednesday.

By late 2011, Turkey plans to reduce electricity imports to 81.6 billion kilowatt-hours compared to 87 billion kilowatt-hours in 2010, the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Ministry said in its report on activity on Wednesday.

According to the report, by late 2011 the country plans to export 80.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity compared to 85.2 billion kilowatt-hours in 2010.

In terms of electricity exports in 2010, Turkey received 12.5 billion lire as a profit. In terms of this year, the figure will be 11 billion lire. In terms of electricity imports in 2010, Turkey has paid 11.1 billion lire, which will hit 11.4 billion lire in 2011, the report said.
