The Turkmen Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry plans to hold an international conference in Berlin on March 14-15, 2012, a official Turkmen source said today.

The source said the leitmotif will be: "Turkmenistan-Europe, Future Cooperation."

The Turkmen Commerce and Industry Chamber is among the organizers.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso's visit to Ashgabat in January gave an impetus to the development of ties with the EU on energy issues. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expects to pay the return visit to the EU headquarters in Brussels (Belgium).

Ashgabat is now negotiating with the EU on the construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.

Potential buyers are the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Turkish Botas, Bulgarian Bulgargaz and Romanian Transgaz, the German group RWE.

Turkmenistan has assured that it can supply the Nabucco project in the annual amount of up to 40 billion cubic meters.
